MENTORING FOR LEADERSHIP, LLC (MFL)
MFL (also founded by Dr. Wanda Taylor) provides services. such as Resume Writing, Job Search, New Business Start-Up, Grant Writing, etc. Fees collected for these services are donated to MAAFL. South Mountain Community College
Dr. Taylor is currently a professor at South Mountain Community College, teaching MGT 253 "Owning and Operating a Small Business. Interested students may enroll in her next class which will start on January 24th by contacting South Mountain Community College or by calling 602-243-8000. Dr. Taylor will be hing two concurrent enrollment classes at the Laveen Elementary SBS/204 "Small Business Marketing and Advertisement" and SBS/220 "Internet Marketing/Small Business;" these courses will be offered starting Saturday, February 5th and will continue every other Saturday through May 13th. MAAFL has been a partner with The St. Mary's Food Bank Community Kitchen since 2006. This organization provides foodserce and life-skill training to low-income adults. Four times per year, Dr. Wanda Taylor teaches a life-skills workshop, titled "Cultivating the Leader Within" to every adult who graduates from the St. Mary's Food Bank Community Kitchen.
MAAFL partners with the YMCA Achieving College Access Program. This program motivates students for post-secondary education through career clusters, tutoring, mentoring, college tours, community projects and leadership activities. Students, grades 6 - 12 are encouraged to envision themselves in a career that requires a college education. The Achieving College Access Program is a combination of two programs: students, grades 6-8 are enrolled in the Y Achievers Program and students, grades 9-12, are enrolled in the College Access Program. MAAFL has been a partner with the YMCA since 2006.
Other services provided by MAAFL include the following: 1) Support for the jobless, which includes resume development, computer training and ffice etiquette skills; 2) Department of Economic Security (DES)
assistance, which include assisting individuals who have lost their jobs in applying for DES food stamps and AHCCCS Health Insurance. Anyone needing these services may call Dr. Taylor directly at 602-332-5053 or email her at drwanda@MAAFL.org to set up an appointment.
